Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Re: Weight Gain... and a lot of it!

I totally understand where you're coming from. I am 20 and I got IBS exactly a year ago. And I am not really a fat person, but I've always been a little chunky I guess. I was so sick for so many months in a row when I didn't know I had IBS that I lost like 30 pounds and by the time all my friends came home from college at Christmas time all I heard was how great I looked and for once I finally felt like people could think I was attractive and I could believe it! Granted the way I lost the weight was no party, but it felt so good. I won't forget shopping after-Christmas sales and buying pants that were a size 4! And again, like you said, I have been able to tolerate eating a MUCH wider variety of food now and I am so depressed now because I have gained like 15 pounds back and it just makes me so sad! I am not feeling as good about myself as I was, and while I think to myself today I'll start being better and do something about it, I just end up thinking it won't make a difference and then I just want to eat something to feel better. It's frustrating! I have been looking at all those metabolism-boosting pills in the store but I just can't imagine that those are IBS or Anyone-friendly. I could use some advice too. But you aren't alone!
