I'm afraid to say, it might! This is the reason why they don't work out for a lot of people. It may be that they can't make it perfect, at every distance, all the time with the bifocal contacts! My advice, if you really want contacts, have them fix it so its the best distance vision and get a cheap pair of reading glasses to put over them when you sit down to read a book. Even if they fix the distance, you should still be able to do some things up close, like read a menu and go to the grocery store and read all the prices. The problem usually develps when you want to sit and read for a long time, which I know you like to do!
A good pair of bifocal or progressive glasses should solve all the problems but I know its nice to not have to wear glasses all the time!
Don't give up hope though, let him make some adjustments, sometimes it takes a couple of tryies to see what works best for you!
