Hi again! Okay, I had to go around in the police car because I haven't been put onto the computer system at work yet so my boss has just been sending me around on random days of watching what other offices do, etc. And one of those random things was a ride-along. Okay, what triggered it? My guess was the insane speeding and going around roundabouts... I do get carsick normally, do I really didn't stand a chance. And I don't mind about the underwear thing being funny... I thought it was funny, too! The only part I did NOT find funny was the staples hurting my thumb - stupid things.
My day got a bit worse because I was a bit peeved at my boss... To make a loooong story short, she is a Police Officer, I am a Civilian. There is only one other Civilian in our office, everyone else is a PC. So she hates Civilians. Hates that we get different days off, different allowances, everything. She said to everyone she wished we weren't allowed to work there. So she has given me, and the other civvie woman a bunch of crap shifts. So I was peeved. So Adrian looked at my contract for me, and then at the roster, and said she is totally in breech of contract by doing that. So now I am at a crossroads: Do I just do the crappy shifts and not complain? Or do I make a fuss? If I make a fuss, I will either get paid more money or be taken off her ridiculous schedule which is the 'yay' bit. The 'boo' bit is that our office is really tiny, with very few people so I am always within a few feet of this woman who has made it clear she takes offence to anyone telling her anything different than what she says - she would go ballistic if a _civie_ said anything. Plus, she could make my life very awkard in other ways while I am at work so I don't know what to do. Adrian says I have to say something, and I want to.. but I will be the only one, unless the other woman backs me up. And she didn't seem very dedicated. I said something to one of the other PCs and even he took offence, thought I was complaining about having to do shifts and said to me, "Well, you have to decide if you want to work here or not because we all do the same shifts" Well, NO! WE DON'T! She has given me ALLL shifts. Like, 3 late shifts, followed by 2 Early shifts, and Saturdays with a 7 AM start. She isn't making everyone else do that! I felt so bad after him saying that, I went back to my desk with my tail between my legs and didn't dare say anything when she came in. 'cause at least that guy that said it to me actually likes me, she doesn't like me already! She didn't like me before I started! Oy! What's a girl to do? --Steph
