Since you can't come during the summer, I am going to give you a little visit to the Ranch!! How 'bout that? I am even going to write with my TEXAS accent, that'll make ya feel like your really visitin'.
About 90% of the visitors here either drive a truck, pulling a trailer with a horse or bull, ride horses, breed cattle,or just plain better love a horse and dogs, or else.
There is a horse barn, and rodeo arena (doesn't mean we have actual rodeos here, the guys just do a lot of steer roping). My husband is a REAL COWBOY, and a fine one at that. He looks soo hot in his starched Wranglers, hat and boots. MMMMM, MMMMMMM, MMMMMMMMMMMMMM. Our sons (2) also rope, as well as two of our grandsons who are learning, the baby runs around in his little boots, toooooo cute. My dil who just finished Dental Hygeine School is waiting for her license to arrive any day, also ropes. This girl is a knockout, long brown hair, large beautiful brown eyes, cute cute figure.....I could go on and on about her, a sweet girl. She gets out on her horse with my son on his and they look so good together, my other dil is such a sweetheart, she is a strong person, I am begging her to go to nursing school, she is an MA now, but is staying home with the little ones right now, her hands are full,....I digress.
Rodeos??????? Yes girl, we rodeo! If we aren't driving down the highway with a trailer and horses, we are just going to watch one. Don't think my bunch doesnt look fine in their cowboy get up! (Starched jeans, boots, hat). I'm followin' with my cool comfy capris (did the boot and jean thing, just can't handle the tight pants anymore ) Ouch!!!!
We also bale our own hay, that is growing right now in the pasture, but the tractors can't get to it to cut, because of all the rain we have had. Just too wet. Hope it dries soon, before the hay goes to seed, not a good thing. We have a man who brings large trucks and crews to load the hay, transport it to the barn, and stack it. We also have freinds who come to help, and we help them with their hay.
We always feed the help, that is my job, I 've been doing it for many years and I am oh so sick of it. I am the chief cook! Lots and lots of food, and sweet stuff, usually a cobbler, or refrigerated cake, and some type of cookie. This makes it very hard for me when I am trying so hard to eat "safe" foods, and keep my butt from getting wide. I usually have a pot of rice on the stove, always some type of bread. And doncha dare thank I'm not gonna be eatin that cobbler if I cook it. Ya better believe it!
I love to work in my yard, lots of flower beds. I also love to have the grandkids over ( I call them the 3 Kings) they are soooo much fun. And my dogs, 5 outside, 1 inside. There is a creek that runs through in front of my house, I love it. We also have family that lives on the property, my h family....OMGosh, this is where alot of my stress and insanity comes from. I call it the commune. Accccccckkkkkkkkk!!!!!
We will never leave this place, my h wants to be buried under the Majestic Oak Tree down by the creek. I think that is just morbid. He loves this place, I do too, but I can't say that if given the chance, I would like to move around some and live in a cooler climate.
Lots and lots of hard work to keep this place lookin' good. Mowing and mowing and mowing, fence repair, fence repair and guess what? More fence repair, the cows and calves have to be counted just about every day to make sure some baby hasn't ventured off from the herd! The cows have to be worked about every 3 months, vaccinations and so forth, they have to be healthy to go to auction. Lots of cows having lots of babies means theres always somebody having a birthing problem, have to try and stay on top of that. I have bottle fed many babies who's moms just couldn't do it, or wouldn't do it.......many tears there. I don't do much outside work other than mowing and mowing and mowing.
It is now 7:31pm, the temp is 82*, cooled down enough for me to go for a walk in about 30 minutes.
This is why we don't get a chance to get away very often, so when we do.......it'd better be good!!! And honey's this one is going to be gooooooooooood !!
