Do I have a vacation for YOU!
How do you feel about Beautiful British Columbia? Fantastic mountains, gorgeous Fraser River, salmon like you've never had before, and fun people. Best of all: You can't beat the weather! You'd be amazed -- it's the best-kept secret. A beautiful drive up here, and when you arrive, how do you feel about staying on a HOUSEBOAT!?
The BEST place to stay is at River Run Cottages. It was featured on the travel channel on a program called, "Best Places to Kiss." That's how we first discovered this area. We saw the program, and just HAD to visit there! Each individual cottage is a floating home on the Fraser River, and the one we stayed in is the Water Lily (you can see it on the website: web page ). It's DARLING! Even has a little mini kitchen and of course a wood-burning stove. The facility provides kayaking if you wish -- and of course we wished! Oh yeah. The river is a lot of fun to kayak. You can check it out online; they have a fabulous website: web page
The breakfasts are served by a little Irish gal who REALLY knows how to cook! She's a little doll; her name is Paddy. The owners of the B&B are Will & Barb, and you couldn't ask for more genuine people -- we just love them.
The little fishing town where the B&B is located is called Ladner; you HAVE to visit our fave pub on the river, because they have the most incredible teriyaki chicken burgers I've ever had in my life.
Check it out!
And, yes, you cannot beat the weather here. While my heart will always be in Maine, the weather there sucks. (Sorry Casey.) Actually, she'll agree with me. In the summer it's hot and HUMID! In the winter, well -- forget it. And that's all you get. Snow or heat and humidity. In between you get mud -- and lots of it! That would explain why I don't live there now.
Yes, the weather up here is INCREDIBLE. Today we're having a heat wave -- it's going to hit 77 degrees! ARGGGHH! But we never have humidity -- NEVER. It might rain tomorrow, but it'll only rain for a day. We have our natural lawn sprinklers up here, which explains why all the hills are green and lush. You'd love it!
Let me know which houseboat you reserve!
