A long time ago we had a 13 yr old Golden that had stomach cancer and we had to have him put to sleep, too. I still remember that day as if it was yesterday. My sons actually built a coffin out of wood and we put him in there and buried him in our backyard...all the while crying our eyes out. We were all so sad afterwards that we figured the only way to help the pain and move on was to get another dog....so we got a golden retriever puppy. This is our current dog (he is now 12yrs old) and we love him like he is part of the family. I know it hurts really bad right now and you will feel better but you will never forget.
