Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards

I totally understand. I feel nervous every time I get in the car and am always thinking where the public bathrooms are in case I need to stop. I also hate riding with others because I might have to make a quick stop along the way.

Every time my boss asks me to ride with him somewhere I always find an excuse not to. One time last year I went with him to the postoffice and had to use their bathroom before we could leave to go back to the office and my boss waited out in front for me to come out. Usually those are the times that I can't just go quickly and I end up being in the bathroom forever.

But, out of all those times I worry the percentage of times I have actually had to stop are low. Most of the time I drive places and feel fine so I try to concentrate on those times. If I am in doubt I will take an Imodium just to be safe. Usually just tasting the Imodium will make me calm down. It rarely gives me C and if it does it is only for a short time and I am usually grateful.

Wishing you lots of luck Nugget. This is one of the parts of IBS that bothers me the most, the anxiety. That's why I ordered the hypno CD's and am hoping they will help me deal mentally with this.
