Oh, Steph, do I ever relate to this post!
Many times -- many, MANY times -- I've climbed on the rowing machine and had to row through the pain. "Coming up to the catch" (at full compaction) was excruciating, my legs squeezing my bulging stomach -- not a pretty picture. I just had to row through those times, just come up to 3/4 slide instead of full if necessary. But you know, after the workout I found I was actually sliding at full, with no pressure at all. The exercise actually worked out the pain, believe it or not.
Don't give up. Keep at it, just work through the pain. As the coach would tell us BEFORE our workouts on the water, "All of you -- LEAVE IT ON THE WATER!" When we got out of the boat, we'd better be totally exhausted, having expended every bit of energy "out on the water," or there'd be hell to pay. So, Girlfriend -- Coach Bev is telling you: "Leave it on the water!" Trust me, you'll feel a lot better for it.
