I also find I'm not invited as many places with the IBS as people have noticed that eating is such a problem. My closest friends and relatives understand (well most of them anyway). If not understand, at least still invite me. Hobbies are great. I like to quilt and do it at home as well as in classes. Never a problem by bringing along some of my safe snacks. I even teach some classes and have met lots of nice people that way. One thing that still makes me uncomfortable is being invited out to dinner or to someones house because I know that subject of my eating problems has to surface again. I'm still not dealing with that very well, get actually angry inside but am working on it.
