My PhD is in Performance Studies, the program is actually called "Performance as Public Practice." I specialize in American Feminist Theatre History and Historiography and Non-Western Theatre. I'm planning on writing my dissertation on colonial and post-colonial American women playwrights and directors.
For anybody who's not in theatre who reads this, Performance Studies is an area that encompasses theatre history and dance and anything that people do in public that is performance. So like circuses and demonstrations and so on.
