Re: Antibiotic Treatment       03/26/09 05:07 AM Edit Reply Quote jamnltd Reged: 09/27/06 Posts: 7 Loc: Southern Oklahoma I took rifaximin for 8 days then came down with bronchitis and the dr. put me on amoxicillin for 10 days. After I really started to feel like myself I realized that I don't have any intestinal pain after I eat, no matter what I eat. I still have IBS-D if I make bad food choices, but all in all I feel much better. My insurance co. would not pay for rifaximin but it was only $58.00 and I decided it was worth a try. The effects are supposed to last 10 weeks or so. If my symptoms return, I think I might try it again. I really am not sure if it was the rifaximin or the amoxicillin or a combo of both, but I do feel better. I have also been on Welcholol for a year and it really helps me.
