i've been labeled IBS, but i have other things going on as well (for example, bile reflux gastritis was just added to my diagnosis list, along with mild duodentis). i have seen red blood in my stool (actually IN it, not on the toilet paper from wiping) for over a year a half now. i am seeing my 3rd GI, who has been the most willing to run tests, but i am debating on traveling outside of my city to find a better GI. after a year of asking her to run some stool tests she finally decided to order 3 stool tests: O&P, H.Pylori, and fecal fat... well, i noticed something while i was collecting my samples, something that i actually notice a lot when i have a bowel movement, but never thought much of it until now... there are black dots throughout my stool. i see this often, but assumed it was possibly food? although, i am a vegetarian so it's not meat of any kind and the times i've noticed these black dots were not linked to eating whole beans or anything. so now i am wondering if it's blood. i don't have anything to compare it to so i thought this message board would be a smart place to start. any feedback?
also - i read that there is a test you can by OTC at the pharmacy to test for blood in the toilet. has anyone done this before? do you know what the name of the test is?
thanks!
