That's a tough one! I'm a CSR in an insurance office and have advanced as far as I can go without becoming an actual producer (which I don't really want to do). I work in a smaller office, there's just 10 of us here.I love my job, co-workers, and bosses have been here for 10 years but have to say that I get bored sometimes. In today's job-market the risk of losing your job is very real so I don't blame you for being wary of budget cuts! How stable is the company you work for? Do you know people in the department that you would be transferred to? Ask around, do some research. The fact that another "big wig" in the company wants you to apply for this job must say alot about you! That's great! With all that being said, go for it! They obviously think you're qualified and you said it yourself, you're overqualified at your current postion. If you don't get it, hey you tried. You still have a good position and a fantastic boss.
