I made it!! I made it through my last day at my old job!! And I did it with style! No fights with the bosses (Helps that only 1 of 5 was in town!), I didn't kill my replacement (although I had to step out of the office and go outside on several occasions!) And I didn't cry!!
My asst. who had been a thorn in my side for the past 2.5 years has suddenly started taking her job seriously! (Where's the real M?) And she went out a bought me a really nice fountain pen. (I always use one - no one steals it because they can't write with it) And she arranged that I could go to lunch with the crew and our trainer from out of town today as they were all at training offsite and I wouldn't see them otherwise. It was really nice of her. She stood up for me - big change!!
I got a gorgeous bouquet delivered from one of my colleagues that I actually used to work for at my old job. (Old job and 2nd last were in the same industry) And then he stopped by to give me a hug and wish me well at the end of the day. Very unexpected and very nice!
So I drove away from the office, and a block away it finally hit me. I done, I'm gone, I get to leave all of that responsibility behind me now for someone else to deal with. It was like a weight being lifted from my shoulders. I was elated. I'm still feeling kinda surreal though. I think Sunday night I'll be a wreck in worry for my new job Monday morning. But I start at 9 instead of 7:45 so I'll have extra time if my tum is bad. Knowing my internal clock, I'll still be awake at 6 like I normally am! (Grrrrr - I hate that!)
I want to thank everyone for all the support and compassion you have shown me over the last while in my search for a new job. It means a lot to be able to vent somewhere where people understand what it like to work and manage day to day and have IBS on top of it all!
Wish me luck for Monday!
