A similar stunt was pulled over back in England years ago when TV watchers' disdain of these televised singing contests mobilized the vote for the least likely winner to cut and sell a good album, and prompted the show's producers to take out the public voting completely, pulling "Pop Idol" and replacing it with singers and a panel of judges (They renamed the show, "X Factor").
