Loc: Maine (IBS-A stable since July '05!)
Dad was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday - he's in the ICU, with a perforated bowel, inoperable due to his condition otherwise. They drained the ick out of his abdomen and he's somewhat stabilized, but his doctors are discouraged and before I left the hospital today, the nurse told us to think about just making him comfortable. He's under heavy sedation, not aware of anything - though I'd say that's a blessing. It's starting to sink in that he's not coming home from the hospital, and my heart is breaking being here in his house, surrounded by all of his things.
My brothers are here, thankfully, staying with me till Sunday - it doesn't make it any easier, but I guess I'm just glad I'm not alone.
Thanks for all your good wishes, thoughts, and prayers through all of this. I still can't believe this is happening. I mean, prior to the middle of August, he was happy, "healthy", and getting ready to start a new life in Maine. Now it's all just... over.
Everyone go hug your families and friends, right now, because you just never know.
