Okay, I just did something stupid. I've just been really hating my hair and not knowing what to do with it -- it's long with some layering and dark blonde. I swore off hair dyes over two years ago because it was such a pain/expense and I really hated the roots -- so, my hair's finally been dye-free/dye-mark-free for awhile. Usually I'm perfectly happy with the color, but I've been debating cutting my hair, and not wanting to even though I secretly feel it would look a lot better shorter, so finally in a fit of madness I bought some hair dye to make it lighter, apparently in the delusion it would make me feel better.

So, the funny thing is that the dye didn't actually make the shade of my hair any lighter -- what it did do was make it sort of glow. But not like in a healthy-sun-kissed kind of way. More like in a crossdressing-cousin's-cheap-wig kind of way. Like if I turn off the light my hair could probably light the room.

It's semi-permanent coloring and is supposed to wash out in 28 shampoos. And the box admonishes not to shampoo within 24 hours of the color to resist color fading. So I am going to wash my hair like crazy and hope that it will minimize the brass doorknob effect.

Why do we do stuff like this when we should know better?!
