I cannot believe it...that "great" new job I just started let me go today. It was complete and utter bullshit.
I started on Wednesday and was working through a temp. agency, but it was a temporary to permanent position (i.e. work 3 months and if they like you then you get hired on by the company). The head supervisor LOVED me...was bragging to the agency about me and when he was introducing me to the "team" kept bragging about all my experience and how he was going to give me this person's account. I of course didn't know what that meant but it was apparently the biggest account they had and that upset a lot of people that the new girl was getting the biggest account.
Anyways, Wednesday and Thursday everyone was really friendly to me, it was a lot of just introductions and going over basic information about the company. Thursday was the last day of the guy who hired me. He was getting married Saturday and going on a honeymoon until the 26th. He said I'd be in "great hands" with his second in command who would train me. She gave me a training schedule while he was still there for this week...but then when he left she abandoned me. Never showed up for any of the training - all I was given to do was clean the desk of the girl who was fired (and believe me, it was the world's messiest desk) and then they made me just sit and watch someone else do the job. What good is that? They were taking phonecalls I couldn't hear and doing stuff on programs I hadn't been taught yet. When I asked if we were going to do any of the training she just said she was too busy (because 3 people were on vacation and it's only a team of 12) but that she'd get around to it.
So I go in there for 9:00am this morning, get all set up at my desk and go to find her. When I do, I ask if we're going to do the scheduled training or if she would like me to do something else (being friendly and flexible). She said she thought she would finally have time and that she'd come by my desk in 10 minutes. I waited for 35minutes and she never showed. At that point an HR person called me into her office and told me I was being "let go." I asked why (since I hadn't had any training or even tried to do the job I couldn't have screwed it up - plus I was never late, didn't break any rules etc) and all she would say was that I didn't fit in with the team and my personality wasn't a right fit! I couldn't believe it. She told me to pack up my stuff and get out as quickly as possible...it was so humiliating. Apparently the trainer never trained me because she was trying to convince them to let me go.
Seriously, what kind of bullshit is that? I called the agency who placed me there and they were shocked as well...they said that the guy who hired me interview many very qualified candidates and that it wasn't even a question when he chose me, and that he was even bragging to them about how he was going to give me this account because he thought my personality type would be a perfect fit to go along with that particular sales rep and area.
So the agency thought maybe they felt threatened and/or insulted that I was getting the account so waited until he was gone and fired me.
I've been crying almost all morning. I went out on the weekend and spent about $300 on clothing because they had a really strict dress code and I only had one thing that fit me which obviously wouldn't work for a 5 day week...and now they've fired me.
Ok, sorry for the long rant but I'm just really upset right now. Please someone say something to make me feel better.
