Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Saw the rheumy yesterday

He was very nice and couldn't believe how fast the Ra is progressing and the amount of swelling I had! He immediately wrote me out a script for a steroid pack. Its one of those things that you take a big dose the first day and slowly decrease the dose over a week. He told me to take all of yesterdays dose when I got home last night, that was like 8 pills! I had a rough night, couldn't sleep and was agitated but my hands do hurt a little less today! He said it would work fast and if I'm not at least 50% better by Monday to call him again! He also doubled the placquenil and gave me some info on the sulfa based drug, can't think of the name of it right now but they also use it for Crohn's. He also increased the Zanaflex to 6mg. He wants to see me again in a month. So hopefully I won't have to do steroids long term or anything, he thinks the week pack of steroids will help get this flare under control and the placquenil should start working in a couple of months. I'll see the other specialist on Monday about my theory on my immune system being in overdrive because it killed the Hep C and see what he has to say.
