they are more closely related to koalas and kangaroos then bats, BUT they live for about 15 years.. need very large cages and a lot of attention as well as a specialized diet.. but once bonded to you are the most amazing little critters...

Being that they do bond closely and single gliders and those who get seperated from their owners for some reason often get severely depressed and ill I'd make sure a lot of research was done by anyone interested in them before getting some.

its so sweet when one of them snuggles up to you or climbs on you.. though I do have some little scratches to show for it too... we do try to keep their nails fairly short. They are our babies... and so wonderful to have and love... I do spend time making their food, and because they are nocturnal stay up later at night playing with them then I used to stay up... but because they are small we do take them places with us during the day when they are asleep.... Bill often takes them to work with him, its funny- the people at his office complain when he doesn't have a set with him. On the other hand I asked here and was told NO. so I get them out after work, though I have been thinking about talking to my doctor about a medical note like Bill got- they really do help his depression, etc.. and with my IBS I find that they are the best stress relief just having their little bodies and warmth against me even in their bonding pouches! so having them with me at work might help in that regard.
