Has anyone ever heard of this? Or know anyone who suffers from it? The doctors think this is what my 10-year-old nephew has. Last year, the specialists ran all kinds of tests on him and thought he had gastro reflux. But after a year on the medicine for that, he has not improved. He has bad episodes of vomiting 3-5 times a year, and ends up in the hospital, needing an IV because he gets dehydrated. The episodes come on suddenly, with no fever, but always with abdominal pain.
They think this condition is like having a migraine in your stomach, instead of your head. My brother-in-law has migraines really bad. There is no cure for it.
To complicate matters, my nephew has been on 4 rounds of antibiotics lately for streph throat---and every 10 days, when he finishes his medicine, he tests positive for streph again. His ENT wants to remove his tonsils, but my sister and brother-in-law are terrified to have this done because my nephew has these violent episodes of vomiting that lasts for days.
Please keep them in your prayers. They're exhausted (physically, mentally and financially drained) and have a big decision to make.
