Today was rough. He didn't want to stand at all. Everytime we set him up he'd just give up and fall. I told my husband to not make him and that if he had an accident on his blanket then so be it since he's not going to be around much longer. It's kinda like taking care of an elderly person. It really is. I need to wipe his eyes, wash the comforter that he's laying on, make sure he's comfortable. He has a sort of bed sore on his hip that won't heal. He's just a mess. But he doesn't seem quite ready yet to give up. Everyone tells us that we will know and that he will let us know when he's had enough. We all think we are prepared for it but I know when the time comes it's going to be awful I'm so glad you are doing better with your new dog. She is just what you needed I'm sure. You are right though, Rusty will never be replaced. Annie just helps ease the sadness that you felt when you came into an empty house. I was never a cat person and we got our youngest son a kitten for his birthday last year and believe it or not, when REilly does go, at least I feel I still have some companionship with our cat. It's not the same as a dog but it's still a cute furry companion. Anyway, thanks for the kind words Barbie.
