She and my dad are leaving in the middle of the night (to beat some of that bumper-to-bumper traffic) to return to her neighborhood. She has no idea what condition her home is in.
Please pray for their safety. The traffic will be a nightmare, and hopefully, they won't have trouble getting gasoline to return. She can't stay there, but can only get into her house to get some clothes, bills, and work-related things. I don't know how she will handle it if her house has been damaged by trees, flooded, or looted. But at least she will finally know what condition it's in. The worrying about it has taken its toll on her.
We're hoping for the best! The suburb she lives in, Metairie, is a little bit higher than the rest of New Orleans, although her house was very close to where one of the levees broke.
Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow as they travel.
