I hope you take care of yourself and get better. As far as the sick days goes, I think it depends on your boss. When I first started this job I got the flu less than 2 weeks after I started. I took two sick days right after two vacation days (I went to a bachelor party for a weekend). I went to the doctor and got a note but my boss looked at me like it was quite unnecessary when I handed it to him. He is really cool like that.
