While my stomach is acting up and I had a rotten day there is finally good news. My photos from the weekend came back in the mail. Always exciting to get something fun in the mail.
On Saturday we bought a new sailboat which we will be calling Serenity . She is a lovely 28 foot Catalina. Here she is in her slip down at the lake.
Saturday it rained all morning and finally let up about 3:30 that afternoon. We were finally able to load our stuff on to her. We have small little kitchen that I was able to make chicken and rice for supper. I may be on the water...but I can still eat safe. She has a back bunk that is queen-sized that sleeps two, a aft bunk that sleeps two and then the salon (middle) can sleep two also. We could have two sleep on the floor if needed, but probably not comfortably. The head (bathroom) has a toilet, sink and a shower!!! All the comforts of home...just with more fun. Below is my little kitchen and then the salon.
After we got everything stowed we were able to take her out and actually sail Serenity. She sails beautifully and I am really comfortable on her compared to our previous boat that I freaked out everytime I was behind the helm. I even got her up to 6.2 knots...which is 3 times faster than I had ever let myself go on the other boat. I actually didn't want to give up control of the helm, but did when I needed to learn how to run all the lines. Since we have more winches on her I am really going to be building up some arm muscles.
Course Jason had to top that since he couldn't let me take our new baby out and do better than him on her...so when he got to 6.4 he was happy for the day. He at least snapped a photo of me having fun.
I can't wait to head back out on her and just relax.
