Well, you're talkin' to the wrong gal. I've never been on birth control, never needed it. I've also never had a period. Long story, you don't wanna hear it.
However, there's one thing I can talk about with the best of womankind: hormones! OMG, this stuff can throw off your entire system like you wouldn't believe. I've been on estrogen since I was 13. I'm 61 now.
I just wonder if your problem is the lack of estrogen that you were getting with the birth control pills that you aren't getting now. Have you spoken with your gyno about your hormones? I'd be willing to bet they're the culprit.
BTW, it's interesting to note that I can get cramps if I take my estrogen too early in the morning, before my tummy has a chance to "wake up." Now I've learned to "coat" my tummy first with some instant oatmeal.
Hormones really play such a big part in our entire bodily functions, more so than we realize.
In my next life, I'm comin' back as a whale.
