actually last weekend went with two girlfriends to Ocean City, NJ and yes my IBS acted up. #1 thank goodness I was with two people who completely understand about IBS & #2 we were right next to the public restrooms. I was ok for the 2hr ride which I was very nervous about but then on Saturday morning my IBS was full blast on the beach no less Went once, got back to my beach chair, had to go again. I finally just said I was going back to the room and they could stay at the beach if they wanted to. They came back with me and they hung out at the pool. Then the time came for dinner. Ughhhh what was I going to eat? Bread? I ended up having a 1/2 of BLT while they ate Lump Crab Meat sandwiches
Moral to the story....Yes, it does sometimes feel it controls your life but there are always options. You can let it take over or you can fight it with every aspect available. There are always bathrooms somewhere! Even if they are gross it's still somewhere to go. Try to do a little at a time. Go somewhere a few minutes a way and gradually work up to a trip. My husband and kids do get frustrated with me too sometimes. They've come to understand though that it's not something I plan and I can't help it. Your too will understand, give him time.
