Yeah, I know how that goes, too - I once had to call my caseworker 3 or 4 times to get the answer to a simple question. Now, if it's something important, I just suck it up and drive the 80 miles or so to go to the actual office, because it actually takes less time out of my life than trying to reach her by phone. Stupid system. Buck-stretching is something I'm good at, out of necessity - I've pretty much always been dirt poor. I used to eat on $10 a week, and once a month, a good chunk of that had to buy food for the cats. But anyway, I digress. Have you been to http://www.celiac.com yet? I'm sure you have been... glancing over the site, it seems that there's recipes and things, which may give you good ideas for how to make those dollars go further. Good luck. I hope all those politicians and administrators on those programs get struck with some kind of ailment, and by some quirk in the system get denied their medication or something.
