I've never taken it (I'm IBS-C), but my mother has. She took it for a short while for IBS-D. She ended up hospitalized for ischemic colitis, a very painful and sometimes fatal condition.

It is a "condition resulting from reduced blood flow to the intestines, which causes serious intestinal damage and sometimes death."

She didn't take it very long before this happened. It was awful for her, but she was very fortunate that she had a complete recovery.

I don't mean to scare you. I just wanted to let you know that there are very serious risks associated with this medicine.
