Our daughter took 13 months from our first call to an agency to the time we held her first. Our son took nine months. Both were born right here in Houston and their birthmoms live in the area as well though we don't know them.

It all varies...costs are often sliding scale depending on your income. We took out a loan for my daughter

I would recommend adopting through and agency rather than the private adoptions only because of the many adoptees I know whose searches have come to an end because the attorney their adoptive parents used had passed away or something like that. Not to mention the ongoing support you receive if you need it. We have used post-adoption services for my daughter which have been invaluable.

You know Michelle, for me it was all about being a "mommy", not really how I became one. There were years that I longed to know what it was like to feel a baby move inside me (I think I felt that once, not sure) and when I fed my daughter a bottle I wished that I could have breast fed her.

Now that my kids are almost teenagers...I am over longing for the above, I am just happy to have been their mommy.
