Hey there, Pretty Lady,
That's tough. We had to put down our loving dog after 13 years, and it was hell. I know what you're going through. Have you considered going right out and getting a puppy? It was the best thing for us; I just wish we hadn't waited as long as we did, because the grief process wouldn't have been as extensive. The new puppy helped us a LOT. While we'll never forget Max -- there could be no better dog -- we loved Murphy, and then MacKenzie, just as much, but in a different way. Different kinds of dogs, different kind of love. While Max was extremely obedient and protective, Murphy was a total lap dog and Kenzie would run from a fight.
Okay, I'm rambling here -- I hate that. What I'm trying to say is the best way to get over your grief is to go right out and get yourself a new pet -- not a replacement -- but a new love. And just think, if you found the right one at the Animal Shelter, you could save a life in the process.
