Computer Help Needed

Hey Guys,
I'm hoping some of you more computer savvy people can help me out with something. I just bought Zoo Tycoon 2 and tried to install and play it, but I'm running into some problems and don't know what to do about it.
It installed fine, but it won't play. I've gone through the troubleshooting information and it looks like the problem is likely my video card. It says that you need to have DivX 9.0 or higher, and when I pull up my video card info, it says DDI Version 8. I tried installing the game on a friend's computer that says DDI 9 or higher and it worked fine.
So, does anyone know anything about videocards or how to fix this? I'm clueless when it comes to this stuff, I never play games on my computer but really wanted to try this. Is it something that can be upgraded without having to buy new hardware?
