I didn't actually throw up but I dry heaved a few times. The nausea for me was very much like the IBS nausea. I treated it very much like the IBS nausea. Don't let your tummy get empty, ginger tea, saltines, etc. Also, in the first trimester, I was so exhausted (those pregnant hormones do a number on you and make you EXTREMELY sleepy) that I hardly cared. All I wanted to do was lie in bed and sleep. My guess is if you can handle IBS nausea, you can handle pregnancy nausea. You can consider yourself one step ahead of everyone else because you already know how to deal with it. Don't worry, sweetie! You'll be fine! Remember, lots of women don't get sick at all. There's no guarantee that just because your Mom was sick that you will be too. Besides, I have found since then that the fear of throwing up is actually worse than actually throwing up. Yes, it sucks, but often times, our fears build things into something that are far worse than they really are. That's what I found, anyway. So, if you get sick, you'll manage. It's not that bad, and it won't last long.
