Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Fertility Update! May be TMI!!!!

For those of you following my ongoing fertility issues, I thought I'd give an update! I am on CD 14. Thats cycle day for those not up on the lingo, CD one is the first day of your period. I was on clomid 100 mg CD 5-9. I am using ovulation predictor kits (opks) which will detect a hormone surge just before I ovulate. Saturday I got a negative opk at 1 pm and than I started to spot. I've never had mid cycle spotting before and it kinda freaked me out. I looked up on line since it was Saturday and of course I couldn't reach my RE (reproductive endocrinologist.) It said that sometimes just before you ovulate, your estrogen will drop and sometimes it can cause some spotting. I also read that sometimes clomid over stimulates the ovaries and produces bigger eggs that can cause some spotting when they are released.

So, I did another opk at 6 pm Saturday and it was positive! Needless to say hubby and I got busy!! HEHE!! I usually will have a positive opk for two days but when I did another one on Sunday it was negative! I had a little more spotting on Sunday and today also.

I went in for my ultrasound this morning, which is CD 14. I had a lot of little follicles (eggs) and two mature ones so it looks like I haven't ovulated yet but will probably today. The Re today didn't seem concerned about the spotting and once we get the results of my blood work this monring, I may have to do an hcg injection tonight just to make sure my eggs release and my hormones are high enough.

We are right in the middle of the sex-a-thon this month and it looks like our timing is really good. We are on the every 12 hour plan so both hubby and I are getting a bit tired but will keep it up through tomorrow or Wednesday! I'll start using progesterone on Wednesday and will be able to test in two weeks to see if I'm pregnant! The clomid was just a touch better this month, I was still pretty hormonal and the hot flashes are awful but at least I knew what to expect this month! I'm still a bit concerned about the spotting as its never happened mid cycle before but hoping it all works out this month! wish me luck!!
