Well, if you're talking specifically for IBS pain, personally, I haven't found anything that works better than peppermint. Peppermint oil capsules are stronger than the tea, but even the tea calms my spasms and cramps right down.

For other pain, unfortunately, all I can take is acetaminophen (Tylenol and other products that contain it). It doesn't always do the trick - fortunately I'm tough, I just stick it out and wait for the pain to go away on its own. For the really wicked sinus pain I get, I can occasionally take Nyquil and it doesn't kill me.
