Yeah I read the same thing in cosmo. Interestingly, I was at a dinner the other night for moot court, and this guy Howie and I were talking about the menu options. He keeps kosher, and there was seriously nothing he could eat. I'm Orthodox Christian and it's still Lent for us, so I was also limited, but there was one thing I could have. And then I said something like "plus, my stomach is all kinds of screwed up, so there are things I can't have." And he goes, "Yeah me too, I have Crohn's." Not that I was happy he's sick, but I was so impressed by how matter-of-fact and not embarassed he was. So then I told him I had IBS and it was also such a non-issue. I'm not usually secretive about it, but around school people I'm a little discrete.
Anyway, sorry for the randomness.
