Hey Steph,
Sorry to hear that you had such a lousy time with the doctor  That's terrible! If you don't think he is helping, I wouldn't go back and try and find another doctor. A psychiatrist is one of those doctors that I think you really need to have a rapport with, and really trust and feel like they have your best interests at heart, if you don't feel that then I don't see the point.
Plus, I think what he said about being obsessed and no one understanding was kinda out of line. It's hard not to be obsessed when you're having so many problems, and I agree with you about being obsessed with getting better, I think that's a very fine distinction. Plus, it's silly to say you should just accept that no one will understand! What kind of a way is that to live! I think people are capable of understanding...sure they can't know exactly what you're going through, but they can empathize and be kind and supportive, and you shouldn't expect any less 
I hope you gets things figured out and find a doc who will actually help you. I hope your weekend is going better as well
