Well, finally got some news. I finally talked to the radiologist at Wake Forest today and he said that he and none of the colleagues he's spoken with have seen a case quite like mine and that he'll likely publish me in a medical journal!!! I always wanted to be published... this isn't what I had in mind!!! Ha!!! I'll let ya know so you can pick up a copy and see pics of my ovarian veins how's that??
Whew.... joking aside... GOOD NEWS - the veins on the left side are ENORMOUS in the MRI which means we are on the right track, this IS the culprit, which to me is HUGE because I feel like we've been stabbing all around this issue for 2 years now. He says, though, that this embolization therapy has never been tried on someone who's already had their uterus removed but still has their ovaries, BUT, even though we're unsure of success rate, it is well worth trying to possibly avoid the more extensive surgery. BEST NEWS - he said we should be able to do it TUESDAY!!! Oh my, to think that by next week I could be virtually pain free, wow! Only downside is they can't use the foam or 'beads' in my case, they are going to go in from a vein in my neck with WIRE... yipes... shimmy it down till they get to where they need to be and then coil off the offending veins... sounds pretty creepy and Eric is fairly creeped out but the Dr acts like it's no big thing, we'll be done in 2 hours, so surely can't be any significant risk here - certainly less than a major abdominal incision. SO.... I'm thrilled, just to KNOW what we're dealign with and have a timeline of sorts to deal with has removed a huge weight from my mind. Once this whole vein issue is resolved then we can fix the other things wrong (the "celes", fallen stuff, vaginal surgery - not such a big thing and more of an inconvenience than causing outright pain).
Well, had to share this update and thank you for the prayers. Will let you know what happens. In meantime when I've felt like it I have set up individual websites for each of the kids, if you want to check them out (very simple!!):
