I was thinking of compiling a list or translated Food Americanisms for the Newbury SG board. Can you guys help? This is my list so far - there are a few blanks with things I couldn't explain - and if there are any mistakes let me know! Thanks.

All purpose flour = Plain flour.
Angel cake = a very light cake made with egg whites and no fat.
Angel kisses = meringue "biscuits".
Bacon slice = Bacon rasher.
Baking Soda = BiCarbonate of Soda.
Bing cherries = Black cherries.
Candied Ginger = Crystallised ginger.
Candy = Sweets.
Chowder = a thick soup made with potatoes, often with corn (sweetcorn) or seafood.
Cocoa (unsweetened) = Cocoa powder.
Cookies = a type of biscuit (call biscuits cookies!).
Cornstarch = Cornflour.
Cream of wheat = Semolina.
Crockpot = slow cooker.
Eggplant = Aubergine.
Fava beans = Broad beans.
Fries = chips.
Frosting = Icing.
Ginger snaps = Gingernuts.
Graham crackers = Digestive biscuits.
Hash (eg. Turkey Hash) = ?????
Lamingtons (as in Almost Lamingtons) = ?????
Lawrys (e.g. lawrys garlic and herb seasoning) = a marinade brand.
Leavening agent = Raising agent.
Light brown sugar (granulated) = Demerera sugar.
Meatloaf = a dinner dish of minced meat, breadcrumbs, seasonings and extras, cooked in a loaf pan.
Pie crust = pastry for a pie.
Powdered sugar = Icing sugar.
Scallion = Spring onion.
Sloppy Joes = a usually spicy ground meat (and possibly other stuff like rice) mix served on a bun.
Sourdough bread = Slightly sour tasting bread made by letting a sponge ferment for a few days. Typically it is made by allowing the yeast in the air to invade the flour and water. Apparently the yeast in different areas, makes different tasting bread.
Waffles = Like pancakes only made on a griddle that has square indents (a waffle maker) although they have some that will make your waffles look like Mickey Mouse and Hello Kitty!!!
Whole wheat = Wholemeal.
Zucchini = courgette
