I don't know how you mothers do it! I already feel guilty leaving poor Lacey at home all day. So when I got home last night and found her left eye was red and swollen halfway shut, I got so upset.
She's had that upper respiratory infection that she's been fighting and her second round of antibiotics ended on Sunday. I noticed Sunday night that her little eye was weepy, but just wiped it gently thinking it was still part of her cold. So when I got home last night and found it red and swollen, I immediate called the Emergency Animal Clinic, who told me to bring her in right away.
My poor baby has conjunctivitis, which sometimes occurs with a bad case of upper respiratory infection. For the next 10 days, I have to squeeze some ointment into her eye every 8 hours. It was not pretty doing it for the first time this morning.
I am so tired at work this morning since it was such a long night. Not sure if it's just being tired, but I'm also cranky at my BF for the lack of support last night. Although I understand since he had to watch his nephew while his sister and her husband took their newborn daughter to the doctor for a rash she got. But he went to put his nephew down and fell asleep! And I guess I wouldn't be that upset about it if I hadn't gotten mad at him yesterday morning. I had bad attacks all weekend and when he came over early yesterday morning before work, I was telling him about it while he was laying down on my bed and he goes "poor baby.." and rolls over to go back to sleep! No hugs or anything. I guess I'm mostly mad because I'm getting less sleep than he is and he can't stay awake to be on the phone with me while I'm at the ER Animal Clinic until 1am. Urgh.. okay, I'm done ranting.
Thanks for listening.. feeling slightly better, although still very tired and eating safe foods for the next couple days.
A funny thing did happen when the nurse went to take Lacey's temperature. There's only one way to accurately take a cat's temp and let's just say that Lacey was not amused anything getting near her rear end, much less inside! So while the nurse is doing it, I tell Lacey, "It's okay sweetie.. I know how it feels and it's not fun at all..." The nurse gave me the strangest look and then I realized what I had said! LOL
