Hi there,
I have had several infections in the past few years, and most of the time the anti-biotics I get have upset my stomach for a few days. The last time, though, I took pro-biotics and it stopped up the D almost right away. Next time, I would start taking them early and hopefully put off the D full stop.
If your infection isn't bad, there are otc (in England, at least.. I haven't checked US/Canada) things that you can get.. they are like packets of powder you dissolve in water and drink two of them a day for a few days. It's important though to keep drinking loads of water (and cranberry juice) for the next few days as well and no s-e-x.. I made the mistake of just taking the powder for the two days, thinking I felt okay and then messed it all up by stopping the water drinking and the 's' word!
If your infection is bad, though, you'll need antibiotics.
Good luck!
