I've managed to actually KEEP weight on since I started the depo shot. One of the side effects is weight gain (5 lbs/year about) and for me the biggest side effect besides no endo, periods and pms was that I stopped losing weight. I was dangerously underweight when I started-- I was the target weight for someone who's 5'3", yet I'm 5'11"! I stopped losing weight when I went on the shot, and now after 5 years I'm finally at a healthy target weight for my height (something I've never been before!!).
I even find the day of the shot I can eat pretty much whatever I want and not get a D attack. Go figure!
But getting rid of the periods meant I'm not getting D when I bleed anymore, something I know happens to a lot of IBS D-ers (the women, that is!!).
