I take the depo shot (depo provera) once every 3 months and I get no periods, endo or PMS. I get slight depression the day of the shot, with mild mood swings, but that's only on that one day, and it takes the place of endo, pms, periods and cramps so it's ok by me!
Have you taken progestrone before, like is it an ingredient in your bc pill? I only ask because some people have bleeding problems with progestrone, as I do with estrogen. It's something you either have or don't have, so if you've taken progestrone pills in the past and you're ok, you're not going to develop any problem with it.
Do some research on the depo shot. Each shot guards against pregnancy for a year and you get no periods for 3 months, then they come back if you don't get a 2nd shot. They'll want you to take some sort of OTC calcium supplement with the shot because you don't want to become calcium deficient, but a lot of us IBS-ers take one anyway since we don't tolerate dairy.
I'd absolutely highly recommend the shot!! It's given me back 60-72 days a year where I'm not doubled over in pain from endo. Most people forget too that periods make IBS so much worse, and I'm completely bypassing that, as well. Try a couple of shots and see if you like them. You can always go back to pills.
Good luck!
