One of my birthday presents from Adam was a pair of rats. I know, some of you are thinking, "Rats? What kind of a present is THAT?" but I've been wanting to get a pair of rats again for a long time. They are seriously the best pets - intelligent, quick to learn, relatively quiet, and surprisingly really clean!
Anyway... meet Gwendolyn:
...and Llewella ("Lew"):
They are both 5-week-old girls. Gwen already likes to be handled, once you get her out of the cage; she's curious as any kitten and wants to look at and explore everything. Lew is quite a bit more shy and skittish, but she'll come around. And they love to run in that wheel!
I just realized I never came back and posted about my birthday. It totally didn't go at all according to plan, and in fact, it ended up being such a lousy day that we're going to try to celebrate properly this weekend instead. But at least I didn't have IBS problems like I did last year! I guess there's always a bright side.
