I went to the counselor wednesday and I must say, it was rather productive. I had no idea that it would be as successful as it was. I filled out a lot of paper work and then sat down with this incredibly kind and gentle older man. I told him how stressed and miserable my condition was making me. He actually listened to me. I was amazed. He analyzed what I was saying and came up with this: Your mentally and emotionally prepared and excited about college but you physically can't keep up. If we could reduce the stress regarding your medical condition when it comes to school, we can probably help you a lot, right? I was amazed. He understood me. I want to do well, I am just hindered at the moment. He strongly advised me to get the help of the social equity office. They work with students that have disabilties. Initially, I didn't feel comfortable with that but he made me realize that with this help I could do much better overall. I will meet with him bi-weekly to deal with some of the other stressed that I am dealing with right now. I am pretty excited. I went to that office and they have already helped me with coursework stuff. Now, I get priority scheduling. That means I get first shot at classes so I can better adequately schedule my days. My teachers will now know that I have a problem officially. I am going to speak with one or two of them tomorrow. I am just happy that it appears that my school is really going to work with me. The last thing that the counselor said to me was, "I know that in the past you've felt like you've been dealing with this alone up here, but now, I promise you won't be alone anymore."
