Awww, hope everything looks up for you, Amy.
And, I know all about wanting to move, my apartment was without heat this weekend when we got a snowstorm of a FOOT of snow. They always *fix* my heat, then it doesn't work again and I hate it. This is my last winter here.
AND, to make things worse, the maintenance man told me before to open the oven if I had no heat to warm the place up, even though I thought it was dangerous I had no choice, so I did, and my carbon monoxide (or is it dioxide? I get the two confused) went off. I was taking a nap with BF, I almost killed us both!  Atleast I found out how to override my heat er now, but it is either have no heat, or tropical temperatures... so I picked the heat!
Good luck with the kids, hubby, and location... you will make it back to the coast one day!
