Keeping Fingers Crossed for a Cat

I might be getting a cat within 3 weeks! I am so excited and needed to tell someone.
I've been wanting a cat ever since I was little, but my mom didn't like pets so I've never had one before. My dad got me a kitten to live at his house, but it had a heart tumor and died a month later.
So now that I live in an apartment that allows pets, I've been exploring my options and have decided I want to get an adult cat since I have work and school, and wouldn't be able to spend time with a kitten. Plus there are always a lot of adult cats that need to be adopted so it's a plus plus situation!
My only problem was that I needed to come up with $400 - $250 for my apartment deposit and $150 for the adoption fees. I explored the option of just adopting and not telling my landlord (there's over 100 apts in my complex!), but you need a letter from your landlord when you adopt.
So I offered to help my dad sell his trailer. He told me that whatever the final price is (he wants no less than $6500), I can have 8%! That's at least $520 so I'd have some money left over for my sad bank account. Plus he wants to sell his motorcycle too so I'm sure I could get a cut off of that too.
I was smart and since I needed some little gifts that siblings could get me, I asked for cat supplies. So I have a food dish, water dish, litter box, and a box of kitty litter sitting in my pantry - with no cat! Plus my mom will buy me my first bag of food for the cat when I get it as part of my Christmas gifts.
This is such great news for me! I've been feeling really lonely lately living by myself, yet I almost enjoy the no roommate aspect after my last roommate fiasco! Catch 22 there..
So wish me luck on selling my dad's vehicles quickly so I can hopefully get my cat soon.
