Hey everyone, I'm at home using my hubbies computer but wanted to check in. I left work around 2pm on Monday because I started to hemmorage. Will took me to the ER and I didn't leave the hospital until around 1pm on Tuesday.
I'll try to give the brief story. After several hours at the ER they did an exam on me and was worried about an etopic pregnancy because of the pain I was in. Typically though, you don't bleed with an etopic. Earlier Monday at the dr's office they drew blood at that test showed that my beta's were still going up, so the dr's were very confused. They sent me to get an ultrasound after giving me morphine for the pian. The ultrasound didn't show anything in the uterus or the tubes. The dr's STILL wouldn't do the D&C because they won't interfere with a pregnancy when the beta's are raising. So, they shot me up again with morphine, drew more blood and made me wait.
They put me in a temporary room for the night and WIll went home. The nurse on duty for the night was AWFUL! She was SO mean, I just couldn't believe it. By this time, it was after midnight. I had been bleeding severly all day, wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything and felt horrible. I kept telling everyone that my IV was really hurting and no one would listen. Finally, I called the nurse in around 1am because I was throwing up and my arm hurt so bad from the iv. Well, the iv wasn't in my vein and all the fluid was going into my arm and it was swellon up terribly. The nurse acted like it was my fault. It took her FOUR tries to get another iv started. Three hours later, that one came out of the vein also! Needless to say it was a long night.
They had taken my blood a couple more times through out the night and at 6am they reported that my betas had started to fall so they would go ahead with the D&C at 8:30am. I had lost so much blood they had me hooked up to heart moniters and I was very dehydrated because the nurse couldn't get a proper IV started.
Around 7:30 they took me up to surgery and the nurse up there was really nice. It took her two tried to get a proper iv started but at least she was nice about it. They had to intubate me during the surgery so my throat is very, very sore today. I got home from the hospital yesterday afternoon and slept until 10 am this morning! My dr ordered me to take today off work so I could recover from everything. My boss isn't too happy but I really don't care at this point!!
Today I feel ok. The bleeding has slowed a lot, my cramps are bearable, I'm tired and drained and my throat hurts but overall, much better than yesterday! I'm just so glad this is all over. I never did see my original OBGYN at the hospital but a couple of other dr's from his practice. The dr did put me on anti-biotics because my temperature was up and they think I might have a slight infection. They want me to follow up in 2 weeks but I think I'll just have the RE check me over when I see her on teh 27th. I really don't ever want to go back into that office again!
So, today, I'm just laying around in my pj's eating ice cream for my sore throat. I have to go back to work tomorrow but already told my boss not to expect a lot out of me for a few more days!
Thanks so much for everyones support through out this entire ordeal. Mentally, I think I'm doing ok. Sure, I'm sad but I'm also very positive about the future. I'm so glad I made the appt with the RE. Lots of love to everyone and sorry I've been MIA for the last few days! I hope to get caught up soon! Lots of love to all!
