I think everyone notices attractive people but people like us that have doubts about our BF's take it one step further and they become innocent crushes.
About the gift. Do you think it would make him uncomfortable? Does he get other gifts from clients? personally, I might just write him a nice x-mas card and put a gift certificate in it. That way it looks kinda generic and less like you've been planning on what to buy him for ages. Does that make sense?
If he is gay, that's too funny. Exact same thing that happened to me.
