Hey all,
As a native DC-er, can I just say, we have more politico-geeks per square mile than... well, than anywhere!! It's a hotbed of loud disscussions about the merits of each debate this morning.
The metro was full of people with "I Voted" stickers and large pins lauding each person's Mr. Wonderful. The Beltway (worst traffic in the NATION) was deserted this morning's rush hour. Great for me, cos I'm voting after work!
EVRYbody's talking politics today, and there's this frenzied, fervored feel, even at the laid-back Starbucks I ducked into to get away from somebody with a styrofoam striped hat shoving literature into my hand.
Man. I mean, it's great people are involved, but I remember my last trip to Alaska, where the first thing I noticed about the car culture was there were no bumperstickers. So nice to be around people who are private about their politics.
Serves me right for living in DC.
This is the thing I like the best, tho-- We have wall sized wide-screen coverage at any number of bars here in DC, with red and blue martinis and all night restaurant parties. I'm actually going to one this year. $1 Bushtini or Kerritini shooters. Gotta love that.
